A new Polish pet food and care business, Dr. PetCare, has received an investment of PLN 2m (US$480,000) from Warsaw-based venture capital fund Arkley Brinc VC, supporting the producer’s plans of rolling out a number of new products under its flagship Country & Nature brand.

Mariusz Wojciechowski, chief executive of Dr. PetCare, said the company’s premium pet food and supplements are currently available at a number of pet stores across the country and online retailers, as well as the company’s own online store.

New pet food products to be launched

“Within a period of six months, we have launched sales of our products in more than 300 stores,” Wojciechowski said. “We produce our pet food in Poland based on unique recipes. We are currently introducing wet dog food to the market, and we have other products under way,” including ones for puppies. “Next year, we will introduce snacks, and also pet food for cats.”

Dr. PetCare says its pet foods and supplements are made with high-quality ingredients, and include more than 65% animal-based ingredients that provide vitamins A, D3 and E, as well as iron, calcium, zinc and magnesium.

The Polish firm’s dog food products are made with turkey and lamb meat, as well as fish. Its dry pet food products marketed under the Country & Nature brand contain between 69 and 72% meat and fish ingredients, according to data released by Dr. PetCare.

Foreign expansion plans

Asked about the Polish company’s foreign expansion plans, Wojciechowski said Dr. PetCare is planning to launch export sales in 2022. The company’s efforts will be focused on increasing its foothold in various European markets.

“When it comes to Europe, some of the most interesting markets for us are the Scandinavian countries, the Balkans and countries such as France,” he said.

However, before the company starts to develop its presence abroad, its focus remains on the Polish market, where Dr. PetCare aims to “build a broader distribution within the key e-commerce pet stores, as well as pet stores and our own shop,” according to Wojciechowski.
